About Us

Haydom Institute of Health Sciences started as a Pre- Nursing School in 1971 aiming at producing nurse assistant’s personnel who could assist in provision of health care to the patients. In 1988 the School started a midwifery course and the name was drastically changed into Haydom Nurses and Midwifery Training School (HNMTS).

The School was upgraded in 1994 to offer Diploma in Nursing and the name was changed to Haydom School of Nursing (HSN). The school is using a Competence Based Educational Training (CBET) curriculum for NTA level 4 – 6 from the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly (MoHCDGEC) which is approved by National Council for Technical Education (NACTE). In 2008 the school applied to offer up-grading programme for enrolled nurses to TNMC, of which it was granted, thus the school also trains in-service programme.
